principles and development. OBD operation and component monitoring are
described, using several examples to clarify matters. Driving cycles
and trips are introduced, and the operation and functions of many
different sensors are also studied. The student gets a compehensive
picture of how continuously and non-continuously monitored tests are
used, how parameters are read, and how fault codes are interpreted.
Also the diagnostics tools and communication protocols used for the
purpose are presented. The use of OBD in exhaust gas emission control
in troubleshooting is studied in great detail. The program also
contains a large body of questions and exercises to enhance learning.
